It is Monday and what better time to confess a setback then bright and early on Monday morning, right?

As I began to write I thought of telling you the “back story” until I realized my back story was an excuse… a reason for my setback. When the reality is I have not been eating my frog; ie. I have not been consistent with my workouts or eating healthy.

No more excuses.

I failed.

I got on the scale this morning and my failure was right in my face. I could no longer ignore the choices I have been making. I could no longer say I had been maintaining through my backsliding instead I was faced with the reality of a gain… and not just a small gain but a rather large gain.

I have been so close to my goal for the last month and when I hit a plateau and life got busy I gave up. I threw my hands in the air and began to enjoy no indulge in life. This morning I wrote this in my journal:

I have fantasized about hitting my goal weight. I have strived and failed yet again… but failure isn’t going to win. Failure means I tried. Failure means I care. Failure means I was willing to push past can’t. Failure is an indication of drive and potential success. I refuse to let thoughts of failure eat me away. I refuse to get angry at myself. I refuse to quit!

Failure means you tried.

Failure means you took your turn.

Failure means you did not sit back and watch life pass you by.

As a health/fitness coach I see so many people fail and allow failure cause them to shrink back in shame. I have seen coaches quit because of failure. I have seen clients refuse to become coaches because they feel like their failure will mean they can’t succeed at encouraging and helping others achieve their goal.

Failure happens.

Failure is NOT something we can avoid.

But, we MUST admit defeat and seek to start again instead of allowing failure to consume us and bring us down.

You will fail.

Life will happen.

You will need to reset.

But, failure is just a set up for a comeback and this time I (and you) will be better, faster and stronger than before!

Don’t let failure stop you from trying again. Life’s too short not to try again.
